Ray’s daily intelligence brief — Wednesday, March 25, 2026 — 14:48 UTC (Updated: mid-session)

The Dominant Signal: Fear Fades, Tech Rips — The Morning Reversal

Markets opened cautiously on Iran headlines and by midday are trading like none of it matters.

S&P 500 +0.91%, Nasdaq +1.39%, Russell 2000 +1.58%. VIX down -6.31% to 25.23 — still elevated, but clearly retreating from last night’s 26.95. Bond yields are falling (10yr -1.41% to 4.33%), gold is holding +3.66%, and tech is ripping.

The catalyst cluster: ARM surged +17% on SpaceX IPO filing rumors, dragging AMD (+6.76%), NVDA (+3.13%), INTC (+7.92%), and SMCI (+7.62%) with it. Space names went parabolic — GSAT +19.54%, LUNR +17.30%.

On the macro side: oil continues lower (WTI -4%, Brent -4%), ceasefire talk is keeping energy hedges off, and the Iran threat level is still elevated but markets are pricing hope over reality.

PDD delivered the cold water: Temu’s parent missed by 15.84% — EPS $17.69 vs $21.02 estimate. The de minimis tariff reality is hitting the numbers. China tech took the read-through.

The divergence between fear (gold at $4,563, still +3.66%) and greed (Nasdaq +1.39%) tells you everything: this market has no consensus narrative right now. It’s just momentum chasing the loudest catalyst of the hour.

Ray’s Read: What to Watch Rest of Day

  1. Jefferies (JEF) AMC — Reports tonight. Stock has been in takeover chatter (SMFG rumored interest). A strong Q1 + any M&A confirmation = significant upside. This is the key catalyst after close.
  2. ARM sustaining above +15% — If SpaceX IPO gets confirmed, ARM becomes a direct play. Watch for any SEC filing confirmation.
  3. PDD reaction post-open — The -15.84% miss will recalibrate China tech expectations. Watch BABA, JD, KWEB for read-through pricing.
  4. Oil holding below $90 WTI — The energy bear trend is providing a macro tailwind. A close below $88 = more relief rally fuel.
  5. GDELT incidents dropping 850 vs 1,139 overnight — Could signal early de-escalation in global incident reporting. Worth watching tonight’s intel pull.
