ANALYST NOTE

Today is the calm before the NVDA storm.

Iran risk deflated — Brent −2.61%, LVL 5 vs yesterday’s 81% probability. The market is using this breathing room to position into NVDA. But the underlying issues haven’t gone away: 10Y at 4.59%, 30Y at 5.13%, two consecutive days of cautious retail guidance (HD, TGT).

The TGT pattern is important. Beat by 17%, down 5.7%. Same as HD yesterday (slight beat, stock down 3%). The market is saying: “We don’t care about Q1, we care about the tariff impact on H2 guidance.” Both retailers guided cautiously. Both got sold. WMT tomorrow morning is the definitive read — if WMT also guides cautiously on tariff pass-through, the consumer is in trouble.

NVDA tonight is the week’s circuit breaker. NVDA consensus $1.78 EPS, $5.34T market cap. The entire AI complex trades off this number. Samsung workers striking in South Korea (50K employees) is a wildcard — Samsung makes DRAM and HBM chips that go into NVDA’s data center products. Any supply disruption commentary from NVDA would be notable.

Putin-Xi meeting in Beijing — 3 days after Trump’s visit. Russia-China deepening ties. This is the medium-term story: a bipolar world forming with US-aligned and Russia/China-aligned blocs. For markets, this means structural defense premium and sustained geopolitical risk over the multi-year horizon.
